Here are a few common offenders that we can help you treat.
Bed Bugs
Insects who feed on blood, usually at night. Their bites have multiple health impacts including rashes, raised bumps, itchy blisters, psychological symptoms, and unfavorable smells, that may take between minutes to days to appear. Bed Bugs are difficult to treat as they can go for 60 days or more without feeding and reside in mattresses, moldings, in cracks and crevices, and in clothing.
Fleas
Parasitic, flightless insects who survive off the blood of their hosts. Their sideways flattened bodies enable them to move between hair, fur and feathers. Their hind legs enable them to jump 50 times their body length, enabling them to migrate from loved household pets to their owners and vice versa. Flea bites, already irritating and sometimes painful, can lead to multitudes of skin problems including extreme cases of anemia or hair loss. They are also known to transfer many diseases.
Mites
Mostly microscopic and unseen, mites usually reveal themselves in the form of bites and their complications, such as dermatitis, scabies, mange. They also serve as a vector for many diseases such as RNA viruses, various pox viruses, and hay fever. Even the common house dust mite can cause asthma and eczema.
German Cockroaches
One of the most common, troublesome pests out there. They are omnivorous, and capable of limited flight. Infamous for their ability to survive on anything, such as any food, and when food is in short supply, are able to eat household items like soap, glue, and toothpaste, and in famine conditions, can even turn cannibalistic. German roaches, like American roaches, are intermediary hosts to many parasites and diseases.
American Cockroaches
Commonly known as the waterbug, the American Cockroach is indeed a roach. Roaches in general are very resilient, able to for example survive a week without their head. Their lifespan can reach 700 days, and can even take limited flight. Cockroaches can spread disease such as salmonella and other disease causing bacteria that they then spread to food left out, causing human discomfort in their home. Infestations are characterized by a strong odor and visible infestation.
Mosquitos
Mosquitos are known for their bites, but the issues they cause only start there. It is said that half of the people that have ever lived have died from disease spread by mosquitos, estimated at about 700,000 deaths a years. In addition to the indicative, raised, red, itchy bite marks, several known mosquito borne illnesses include yellow fever, lymphatic filariasis, west nile virus, Zika, and heartworm disease.
Ticks
A larger member of the Mites family, Ticks are notorious for ruining camping trips. Ticks latch onto hosts by burrowing their head past their skin. They spread many diseases to humans including typhus, lyme disease, q fever, heartwater, Colorado tick fever. Some are even venemous and can cause tick paralysis, or can cause the victim to become allergic to red meat.
Cloth Moths
A common fungus moth, found all over the country. Particularly annoying in its larvae state, where the caterpillar of the cloth moth eats and derives nourishment from clothing and other tapestry around the home.
Indianmeal Moths
Another common variety of moth. Indianmeal moths eat, lay eggs, and infest all manner of foods they can find around the house. Upon molting into their adult form, they then gain the ability to fly and leave eggs all over your home, making this a particularly time sensitive pest to control.
Rodents
Rodents such as rats and mice are cosmopolitan, quick breeders. They are able to chew through furniture, wires, tapestry, and even walls. Rats in particular are known to carry many diseases that can be life threatening particularly to children and the elderly.
Ants
A Common Pest found almost everywhere, ants cause visual disturbance and ruin food to start. Ants have been known to take apart insulation and wiring, potentially causing fire hazards.
Beetles
A large family of insects, the real danger with beetles comes from their larvae. Once their eggs hatch, they feast on wood, reducing it to a powdery substance, causing structural damage in your home. Other beetles, such as carpet beetles, will devour your carpet and clothing, and Leather beetles, will also devour leather around the home. There is a beetle family for every kind of subsistance, including skin.
Earwigs
Generally harmless to humans, Earwigs enter and infest your home through cracks and crevices when food outside is in short supply. They travel in packs, so if there is one there is many. The primary concern with earwigs is that if they can get into your home, it is indicative of other bugs in your home they have come for.
Flies
A threat worldwide, flies present themselves as an issue in the rate of their reproduction, as well as in the rate they spread disease they are vectors for. Flies are omnivorous and much like roaches can transport fecal matter onto your food.
Millipedes
Generally harmless to humans apart from those allergic to them, millipedes mostly pose a danger in frightening people and pets. They are mostly nocturnal, and may shock inhabitants moving a box or such.
Silverfish
Typically found in high moisture areas like basements, bathrooms, they feed on starches and sugars, books, photos, and wallpaper paste in particular. As they do not hibernate, they are commonly found in the winter, looking for warmth to stay in.
Spiders
Ranging from beneficial to deadly, spiders encompass a wide array of species. Commonly known for taking care of your other pests, their eggs hatch tens to hundreds of smaller spiders. Spiders should be looked into immediately as there are many spiders native to the united states which are poisonous and dangerous to humans and pets.
Stinging Pests
Bees, wasps, hornets, and more, this category of insects are usually very territorial, and sting when aggravated. Some people can develop a deadly allergy to their stings and as such these pests should be removed from the home as soon as possible.
Stink bugs
Commonly finding their way indoors for the winter, stink bugs get their name from the foul odor they secrete. This odor is made worse by direct light, and smashing them will only worsen it. They eat ornamental plants, fruit trees, and gardens.
Termites
Known as the silent nuisance, termites can be hard to detect until its too late. Termites feast on the cellulose-based plant materials such as wood that make up your home. Leaving termites unchecked can lead to thousands of dollars in repairing your home.
Weevils
Weevils, another beetle, can sustain on stored grain but most commonly are found ruining gardens and plants. The females use their mandibles to make holes in grains of rice and lay their eggs inside of them.
Wildlife
Raccoons, snakes, birds, and all the like are unwelcome visitors in the home, sizable enough to threaten your family, destroy your food, shed and leave droppings. Some species also spread rabies, a life threatening disease.
